Escape to Paradise: Coral Princess Hotel, Puerto Rico Awaits! - A Review (and a Bit of a Diary Entry)

Okay, buckle up, buttercups. I’m back from the Coral Princess in Puerto Rico, and I'm still trying to shake off the sand and the mucho gusto from the staff. This isn’t your polished, press-release review. This is me, unfiltered, and probably rambling, but hey, you need to know if Paradise is actually worth the hype, right?

First off, Accessibility: Yes, they claim to have facilities for disabled guests. I didn't personally test this, but they have elevators, and the website does say the hotel is wheelchair accessible. Important: Contact them directly to confirm and get specifics – don't just take my word for it, especially if accessibility is critical for you! I'm guessing it's ok but always do your research.

Cleanliness and Safety: THIS is where the Coral Princess shines, even if it's blinding you with it. After all, you're going to want to know about this! They are all over the sanitization. I swear, they were practically spraying down the air with unicorn tears.

  • Anti-viral cleaning products: Yessss!
  • Daily disinfection in common areas: Got it!
  • Hand sanitizer: Everywhere. Literally, everywhere. By the front door, in the elevator, next to the pineapple-infused iced teas…
  • Rooms sanitized between stays: Definitely. Felt squeaky clean.
  • Staff trained in safety protocol: Seemed like it. They were all masked, and while it made friendly chit-chat a bit challenging (muffled giggles!), I appreciated the effort.
  • Cashless payment service: Yup. Easy peasy.
  • Safe dining setup: Tables spaced out nicely. Made me appreciate my personal space more. Which, honestly, is a good thing.
  • Hot water linen and laundry washing So very clean…
  • Individually-wrapped food options They give you plenty of them.
  • Rooms sanitized between stays I loved this and the hotel did it well.

Rooms: (And the Moment I Almost Hated My Trip): Okay, confession time. I booked a standard room, fully expecting the "meh" experience. However, I got a room with a freaking view! (High floor). We’re talking ocean views, right from my balcony, I mean, I was in my room and it was perfect. The carpeting felt a little worn - I was ready to start hating it, but I didn’t. The blackout curtains were a life-saver for my sleep. Ahh, Air conditioning. And the Bed, okay, the Extra long bed, was perfect! You know what else was perfect? The pillow. And not the hard ones. I'd gladly travel specifically for these pillows. And the soundproofing! My room was perfect! No noisy neighbors!

But here's the REAL gem - the toiletries. They had the perfect toiletries, The complimentary tea after the long trip was perfect. The towels were so soft.

Now, here’s where I nearly lost it: Internet Access – Wireless, Free Wi-Fi in all rooms! This is important! I like to stay connected. And, thankfully, the Wi-Fi was decent (not mind-blowing, but good enough) – but that’s not the point of this review. This is about my emotional reaction! We're talking about connectivity, and my need to check my email after a long day of playing on the beach. I had to get to work right.

Dining, Drinking, and Snacking: Okay, the food wasn't Michelin-star stuff, but it was solid. Definitely no complaints - I was starving! The Breakfast [buffet] was pretty standard (Western breakfast, Asian breakfast, if you want). The Happy hour at the Poolside bar was a must-do. Also, they had multiple Restaurants in the hotel, I tried the a la carte in restaurant, and it was really good, so I will definitely recommend it. The Snack bar was perfect for a quick lunch.

Things to Do/Ways to Relax: Okay, the real reason you're here. And that is the Spa! The Spa/sauna. I just spent an hour in bliss. I got the Body scrub. Then a Massage. Then I went to the Sauna. I just melted. Oh, and there was a Pool with view! The pools were great. I'm not a fitness person, but the Fitness center looked decent. They had a Steamroom. The Swimming pool [outdoor] was everything. I was also surprised to see the Foot bath.

Services and Conveniences: The staff was super friendly. They had Concierge which was super useful. And a Cash withdrawal machine. The Daily housekeeping was great. The Elevator was important. I will definitely highlight the Daily housekeeping. For the kids: This I can't speak to personally since I don't have any kids, but they did have Babysitting service and Kids meal. They seem Family/child friendly

Getting around: They have an Airport transfer, and the Car park [free of charge] was a HUGE plus.

Safety/Security Feature: It's a secured place. Plus, the Security [24-hour] was comforting.

So, is the Coral Princess a slice of paradise? Definitely a contender. It’s got its quirks (the slightly dated decor in the hallways), but the cleanliness, the friendly staff, and the views…they're worth the price of admission.

Coral Princess Hotel Puerto Rico

Okay, buckle up buttercups, because this isn't your grandma's perfectly polished itinerary. This is MY Coral Princess Puerto Rico trip, and we're going to navigate it together, warts and all. Prepare for some serious stream-of-consciousness rambling, existential dread over the buffet line, and a good dose of "did I really book that?"

Coral Princess Puerto Rico: My Unfiltered Adventure - Or, How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Cruise (Maybe)

Day 1: Embarkation - A Sea of White Shoes and Questionable Decisions

  • Morning (7:00 AM): Woke up in a panic. Did I pack enough sunscreen? Did I accidentally leave my passport in the fridge (yes, I checked)? The pre-cruise anxiety is REAL, folks. Arrived at the San Juan port. Crowd is already a swirling vortex of bright white shoes. Seriously, how does everyone own so many pristine white shoes? Must be a cruise thing.
  • Mid-Morning (10:00 AM): Checked in. The process was surprisingly smooth! They give you those plastic cards that you can't possibly lose…until you're halfway through a mojito, of course. Found our cabin! It's surprisingly…cozy. Like, "intimately acquainted with my luggage" cozy. But hey, it has a window! (small but mighty)
  • Lunch (12:00 PM): The buffet. Oh, the buffet. It's a land of endless possibilities and potential food poisoning. Took a slow tour around, eyes wide, trying to decide what to attack first. Settled on a "safe" choice: salad. Ended up with way too much dressing, and a secret craving for the pizza that I shouldn't have, it looked suspicious.
  • Afternoon (2:00 PM): Mandatory safety drill. Standing on deck in a life vest, feeling like a extras from a disaster movie. The wind is whipping my hair into a frenzy, and I'm pretty sure I saw someone weeping quietly. Apparently, knowing where to find your life jacket is essential. Who knew?
  • Late Afternoon (4:00 PM): Cabin discovered to be very close to where the band plays for the evening, and the night of the journey will become very noisy. Debating the pros and cons of earplugs.
  • Evening (6:00 PM): Dinner in the main dining room. Felt so fancy, like I had a purpose. Met our tablemates. There's the couple who only talk about their cats, and the guy who is already telling us his life story. The service, though, was amazing. Our waiter, José, is a saint. The food was…decent. The crème brûlée saved the day.
  • Night (9:00 PM): Casino exploration. Put in $20, lost it faster than you can say "jackpot." Gave up gambling, and watched the show with the couple and the guy with long life stories…

Day 2: A Day at Sea - Sunburns, Sea Legs, and Soul Searching at the Bottom of the Pool

  • Morning (8:00 AM): Woke up feeling surprisingly good! Perhaps it was the ocean breeze…or maybe I'm just still in denial of how much I overate last night. Attempted to find the gym. Got hopelessly lost. Ended up in the kids' area. Took a deep breath, and went to the gym.
  • Late Morning (10:00 AM): Poolside! Found a deck chair! (miracle!) Slathered on sunscreen the way a dog attacks a bone. People-watching is serious sport. Witnessed a synchronized swimming routine performed by two kids and an inflatable flamingo. This is cruising.
  • Lunch (12:00 PM): The second visit to the buffet. This time, I went for the questionable sushi. Will report back later on the consequences.
  • Afternoon (2:00 PM): Decided to take a nap. Woke up an hour later, covered in sweat, and certain I'd just met my maker. Attempted to read my book, but the rocking of the ship is making me feel like I'm inside a blender.
  • Late Afternoon(4:00 PM): Found the hot tub. Instant relaxation. There's a group of women in there aggressively discussing their colonoscopies. I now know too much.
  • Evening (6:00 PM): Dinner in the main dining room. José is still a champ. The guy next to me is making very loud chewing noises. Seriously considering investing in some noise-cancelling headphones.
  • Night (8:00 PM): The show tonight. "The Greatest Divas" tribute. I, surprisingly, was actually happy, especially when I could sing along with the songs.
  • Night (10:00 PM): Tried to dance at the disco. Failed. Went back to the cabin and discovered the delightful noise coming from the band, and the need to have earplugs.

Day 3: San Sebastián, PR - The Day I Became a Pirate

  • Morning (8:00 AM): Arrived at San Sebastián! Excited to see the place. But the first thing that hit me was the smell… A combination of salty air, exhaust fumes, and something vaguely resembling old fish. Still, the view of the city in the distance was amazing.
  • Late Morning (10:00 AM): Explored. Rented a golf cart, because, well why not. Drove the coast, and then got lost. The GPS? A lying, deceiving piece of technology.
  • Lunch (12:00 PM): Lunch at a restaurant. The food was good!
  • Afternoon (2:00 PM): Went for a swim. The water was crystal clear, and the fish were beautiful.
  • Late Afternoon (4:00 PM): Went shopping at the souvenir shops. So many mugs, t-shirts, and magnets! Bought a pirate hat. Feel like I'm going to be the best when, eventually, I go back home.
  • Evening (6:00 PM): Dinner, on the ship, went back to normal, and the journey went on.

Day 4: Back to Sea and The Farewell Dinner

  • Morning (8:00 AM): Woke up early, because, why not. And took some time at the pool, not being that crowded.
  • Late Morning (10:00 AM): Relaxed, and got ready to have a good time back in the ship.
  • Lunch (12:00 PM): Back to the buffet… the food, the chaos, everything was getting better!
  • Afternoon (2:00 PM): Relaxed, and got ready to the farewell dinner.
  • Evening (6:00 PM): Farewell dinner. The waiters sang a song and said goodbye. It was time.

Day 5: Departure - Goodbye, White Shoes!

  • Morning (7:00 AM): Packing! Tried to cram everything back into my suitcase, which now seems to have shrunk. Found my passport!
  • Morning (9:00 AM): Disembarkation. Said goodbye to José. Now, is time to leave!

Final Thoughts:

This cruise was…an experience. It was messy, imperfect, and occasionally filled with existential dread. But I also laughed, I reveled, and I met some interesting people (and saw a lot of white shoes). Would I do it again? Probably. Just give me a few months to recover from the buffet. And maybe buy some earplugs. And definitely make sure I pack enough sunscreen. Hasta la vista, baby!

Escape to Paradise: Coral Princess Hotel – Frequently Asked (and Slightly Unhinged) Questions!

Okay, so… what *is* the Coral Princess Hotel actually like? (Beyond the glossy brochures, I mean.)

Alright, picture this: You step out of the airport, the Puerto Rican air hits you like a warm hug (or a particularly humid slap, depending on the day). Then, you find the Coral Princess. See, that glossy brochure? Yeah, it's mostly true... but a little *smoothed over*. It's not quite the pristine perfection you might imagine. Think… charmingly weathered. Some rooms are amazing, with views that’ll straight-up steal your breath. Others? Well, let's just say you might want to bring an extra pair of earplugs. I swear, I heard a plumbing symphony playing in my room at 3 AM once. Still, the *vibe* is great. Think laid-back, family-friendly (lots of excited kids, bless 'em), and with a definite dose of island time. Don't expect lightning-fast service, but expect smiles. And a LOT of sunshine. That's the real star.

Is the beach *really* as good as the pictures? And how’s the swimming situation?

Okay, the beach… the beach is *mostly* as good as the pictures. It's gorgeous. Powdery white sand, turquoise water… yes, *chef's kiss*. But, and there's always a but, sometimes there's seaweed. Nature, am I right? It’s not a deal-breaker, it gets cleaned up pretty regularly, but just brace yourself for the occasional… verdant influx. Swimming? Fantastic! The water's usually calm and clear. Perfect for just floating around like a lazy starfish (highly recommend, by the way). I actually spent a whole afternoon just bobbing and contemplating the meaning of life, or maybe just what I wanted for dinner. It was bliss! Just… watch out for the occasional wave. They can pack a punch! (Learned that the hard way. Lost my sunglasses.)

What about the food? Are there any decent restaurants nearby, or am I going to be stuck with buffet food the whole time? (Please, no buffet food.)

Ah, the food. Okay, the hotel restaurant is… serviceable. The breakfast buffet is your standard hotel fare: scrambled eggs, pastries, questionable coffee. But it does the job. Lunch and dinner… well, it's hit or miss. I had one amazing grilled fish dish, honestly unforgettable. Then, I had something that tasted suspiciously like cafeteria chicken. So, your mileage may vary. But here’s the REALLY good news: there are some *fantastic* restaurants nearby, a short walk or cab ride away! I'm talking authentic Puerto Rican cuisine – mofongo that’ll make you weep with joy, fresh seafood, and plenty of rum cocktails. My personal favorite? This little shack down the beach with the BEST empanadas. Seriously, I went there almost every day. (Don't judge me.) So, no, you won't be stuck with the buffet forever. Thank goodness!

Tell me, what's the deal with the Wi-Fi? I NEED my Instagram. (And, you know, to check work emails, *maybe*.)

Okay, the Wi-Fi… let's just say it's on island time too. Sometimes it's zippy, lightning-fast, perfect for uploading those envy-inducing beach photos. Other times… well, prepare for a digital detox. It can be a bit patchy, especially in the rooms. The lobby is usually your best bet. I spent a lot of time there, pretending to work while secretly scrolling through TikTok. So, bring a good book (a REAL, paper book!) and be prepared to embrace the occasional interruption. Or, you know, accept that your followers might have to wait a few hours to see your perfect sunset pic. Perspective, people! It's paradise, after all. Who needs Wi-Fi when you have the ocean?

Is it family-friendly? My kids are… spirited.

Definitely! The Coral Princess is very family-friendly. There are tons of kids running around (and sometimes, let's be honest, *making* running around a challenge). There's a pool with a kiddie area, the beach is perfect for sandcastle building, and there are usually some activities organized by the hotel (though, to be transparent, I didn't participate, because I'm a grown-up who prefers napping). The staff is generally super patient and accommodating with the little ones. However... I did witness a kid have a full-blown meltdown in the lobby once, screaming about not wanting to eat chicken nuggets. It was... memorable. So, yes, it’s family-friendly. But pack patience, and maybe a lot of snacks. You’ll need it.

Okay, the pool? What's the vibe there? Are we talking crowded chaos or a relaxing oasis?

Ah, the pool. It's a bit of both, to be honest. During the day, it's usually buzzing with activity. Kids splashing, adults sipping fruity cocktails (the piña coladas are dangerous – in a good way!), music playing… it’s lively, but not necessarily quiet. I did manage to find a quiet spot on a lounge chair once. It was *heaven*. Until a rogue volleyball came hurtling towards my head, nearly knocking me into the pool. (Seriously, where do they find the energy??). If you're after serious tranquility, maybe try the beach or consider a weekday visit to avoid the weekend crowds. But, overall, it’s a nice place to hang out, soak up the sun, and people-watch. I saw a lot of interesting bathing suits, let's just say.

Any advice for avoiding those pesky vacation scams or tourist traps? Don't want to get ripped off!

Okay, let's talk street smarts. And I learned. The hard way. First, don't be afraid to haggle! Especially at the souvenir shops (though, I'm not saying it’s *always* going to get you a good deal. I once tried to haggle over a miniature conga drum and ended up paying way more than it was worth because I was trying to be "fun".) Second, be aware of overly pushy salespeople. Smile, say no firmly, and walk away. Really. Third, stick to reputable tour operators for excursions. Do your research online. Don't just go with the guy who approaches you on the beach. And be wary of anyone offering "too good to be true" deals. Because, trust me, they usually *are* too good to be true. And trust your gut! If something feels off, it probably is. And if you get scammed? Hey, consider it a lesson learned, and a good story for when you get home.
